It was a great evening at CLUB 45. The kids were all in a great mood and enjoyed hanging out.
Tonight we turned prayers into service and action. The kids were praying for the victims of Haiti and for soldiers. For some, they were praying for specific family members who are soldiers.
We rotated between different stations and the kids helped to pack the emergency relief kits for Haiti victims. Thank you to everyone who brought in supplies. There was a great response. If you missed the chance, there is still time to donate to the church.
Here is what supplies are needed:
hand towel (15" x 25" up to 17" x 27", No kitchen towels)
washcloth
comb (large and sturdy, not pocket-sized)
nail file or fingernail clippers (no emery boards or toenail clippers)
bath-size bar of soap (3 oz. and up)
toothbrush (single brushes only in original wrapper, No child-size brushes)
bandaids
From our packing this evening, I can tell you there were very few hand towels provided and very few nail clippers.
We also made cards for soldiers. There is a need for soldiers to have access to blank cards to send back to family members for special occasions and everyday notes. The cards we made tonight will be sent to http://www.operationwritehome.org/.
I noticed all the kids were excited to participate in these projects. I believe it gives them a sense of helping others. And, I enjoyed being able to do this with them tonight.
I pray each of our children will have a good week and have the opportunity to experience the Lord in their daily routine. I pray the same for you as well.
Blessings.
